Bio Diesel Testing Results Now In Bio Diesel is a new technology, creating fuel using biodegradable, renewable resources such as soybeans. This fuel offers significantly reduced environmental impact, while providing comparative performance. ![]() FS PARTNERS wanted to carry out a Bio Diesel Performance test to witness the benefits of using bio diesel first hand. The test was conducted on June 26th, 2007 at Bruce Thomson Farms outside of Hensall, ON. Using their 1997 CASE IH MX 135, the intentions of the group were to test bio diesel at different percentages and dilution to determine the effect of bio diesel on horsepower and emissions. The results were interesting and inspiring to the continued use of bio diesel. With a benchmark of conventional diesel fuel producing particulate matter of 6.5ppm (parts per million) at 95 hp, the particulate matter was clearly reduced with the addition of bio diesel. Horsepower output improved at 20% bio diesel, and optimized at 40%. See the chart below for performance comparison. The group was pleased to witness increased horsepower, and reduction of more than half the emissions. ![]() |
